u.s. and afghan special forces including members of the navy's elite sooel team six, raiding a taliban camp saturday night to rescue this man, dilip joseph, an american doctor taken hostage while working for a relief agency. >> difficult terrain, big mountai mountains, very, very dark. lots of training on hostage rescues. until you get in there and do it, you don't know what you're going to find. >> reporter: they moved in by helicopter in darkness. when it bake clear dr. joseph was in imminent danger or may be moved to pakistan. they had been tracking the american, following his captors to the mountains of eastern afghanistan, where they had hidden him among some small huts. a firefight broke out. several of captors

good monday morning i am megan pringle. police are searching for the person who shot an off-duty police officer in overlea near dale and kenwood avenues. police say the officer was driving just after 3 on sunday morning when he came across a large group blocking the road e stopped and asked somebody to move so he could get through and that's when a man came out

of the group and fired several shots into the officer's car. the officer was shot twice and his name has not been released. county police want to hear from you if you have information here's the number to call. 410-307-2020. and a 19-year-old is recovering afterring shot in middle river. teen was shot in the 100 block of kingston road not far from eastern avenue and martin boulvard. baltimore county police are not releasing information right now about a possible shooter. police say that the victim is expected to survive. time for a check on your weather with meteorologist lynette charles. >> all right. we are talking about a dense fog advisory until 9. you can see why. look at manchester right now. plenty of fog across the area. and we are going to continue to deal with this this morning i wouldn't be surprised if maybe the dense fog advisory is extended. 46 right now in manchester. temperatures are on the mild side and will continue to be so even as we go into afternoon. so this is what to expect with the planner today. the high temperature coming in

good morning i am megan pringle. thanks for joining us. a man walk in the woods in howard county found a woman's body not far from route 1. he was near the woods on # the 9,000 block of route 1 in laurel when he found the body. police believe it's a woman in her 40s who was reported missing a few weeks ago by a friend. the prelimb marchy investigation shows no signs of foul play however right now police are still investigating. a man hit while walking on a ramp to route 50 in annapolis is not eggs expected to survive. he's in his 30s hit around 8:30 last night. police say he is being kept ahive for what they are calling

here. and -- >> whoa. she begs to differ. >> and, yeah, there were definitely some battles. >> what was the hardest part for you? >> when i first started. it was the walking. because it was just, i wasn't used to it. >> you just went out there and you guys did it, every day, as family. >> yes, there's not -- in the beginning, we did it as family. we went at night in the rain in the hail in the fog, nothing, we had -- zero tolerance policy. we're doing the walk no matter what. >> this was not just unhealthy eating habits. you knew from the beginning when she was baby that she would have to struggle with this. >> yeah, slow metabolism. her medpediatrician said she wo

grow into her body. we had her tested from thyroid to diabetes. her endocrinology was tested. she joined a swim team. she was still gaining weight. >> how has this changed your life? all good? what's the best part? >>ky be involved with sports and i can keep up with my friends when we're playing. i can just move more. >> that makes a big difference. >> what would you say, if parents are watching, what is the one big piece of advice you would give them? >> start as soon as possible. exercise, healthy eating habits, and -- >> and don't be afraid to do the tough love. it's worth it in the long run. it's their life at stake. >> it sure is. you all look great and happy. thanks for coming in. >> breanna, you are an
